Fr. Miguel Mejia

I was born in Mexico on February 9, 1974. My parents are Sergio Mejia (+) and Hortencia Diaz. I am the oldest of three brothers and two sisters.

I started my priestly studies when I was fourteen at my home diocese’s seminary. In 1994 I moved to Washington state and joined Bishop White Seminary at Gonzaga University where I got my ESL and philosophy degree. After finishing my philosophical studies, I went to Belgium to study theology at the American College of Louvain. While studying in Belgium, I took summer classes in Paris and Jerusalem.

On December 4th of 1999 Bishop William S. Skylstad ordained me and Fr. José Luis Millán deacons for the diocese of Spokane at the American College of Louvain. On August 11th of the next year Bishop Skylstad ordained us to the priesthood in Spokane.

My first assignment as a priest started on September 1st, 2000 at St. Patrick’s Church in Pasco. On November 15th, 2001 Bishop Skylstad appointed me as the Priest of three little parishes in Pomeroy, Dayton and Waitsburg. In 2002 I became the Pastor of Sacred Heart in Othello where I was for five years. In 2007 I took a medical leave. On September 2008 I was appointed as the Parrochial Vicar at the Cathedral of Our lady of Lourdes in Spokane.
