He was educated at Carroll College, St. Paul Seminary and Gonzaga University, with special studies in education at Northwestern University, and holds a Ph.D. from Washington State University. Before coming to the Cathedral in 1983, Msgr. Ribble served as President-Rector of Mount Angel Seminary, rector of Mater Cleri Seminary, president of DeSales Preparatory Schools in Walla Walla, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Pullman, and vocational director for the Diocese of Spokane.

From 1995-2005, Msgr. Ribble directed The Journey of Faith series for continuing adult formation and understanding of the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church.
